NABJ CONVENTION GRANT

If you are a member of TBABJ in the beginning stages of your journalism career, please take advantage of this opportunity to support your development and expand your media connections.

The Tampa Bay Association of Black Journalists (TBABJ) is always exploring new ways to add value to its membership. For 2026, the chapter is pleased to introduce the NABJ Convention Grant Program, a new benefit open to members early in their journalism career (broadcast, online, print, or radio). The grant covers convention registration, lodging, travel, and national membership dues.

The 2026 application period is now open. Entries will be accepted through March 20th and the grant winner will be announced by March 31st.

Criteria to Apply 

  • Applicants must provide documentation of approved time off request.
  • Must be in good standing with TBABJ.
    • Join or renew your membership before applying. 
  • Must be your first NABJ convention as a professional
  • Must attend the full convention (starting August 12th -15th)

 

Additional Requirements 

  • Recipient will be required to capture content at the convention and publish on his/her personal social media channels. Please tag TBABJ (@tampabayabj |  #tampablackjournalists)
  • Recipient will attend a TBABJ hosted event during the convention. Details to come.
